California Part 1

California Part 1
We are home from an amazing visit with some dear friends of ours in California! To say I missed them a lot would be a huge understatement. A year was WAY to long. I missed them fiercely and catching up was everything and more than I ever could have imagined!! Darryl, Wilder, and I drove down to Minneapolis so that we could take a direct flight from there to San Diego. Wilder did okay on the drive. There was lots of Sesame Street, stopping, and feeding him rice rusks to pass the time. We stopped at the Target in Fargo for a long break to walk around, eat, grab starbucks, and prepare for the next 3 1/2 hours. Wilder did great on the flight over there. I hate flying…so I did alright. Our friends were there to greet us and I am so glad Darryl took pictures. Those friends and those pictures hold such a special place in my heart! We went out for lunch and to the beach. The next couple days we just hung out, went swimming, drank tea, watched movies, and laughed (so much!!). Unfortunately Wilder came down with an ear infection and had a fever of 104 which was so scary for Darryl and I. But we were so thankful to have such amazing hosts and friends that took care of us while we took care of Wilder. Below are some pictures from the first half of our trip!!

This month the question asked was "What does time for yourself look like?" It was fun receiving all the different emails of what these mommas do to keep themselves fuelled through out the business of life. Time for rejuvenation is important and as a mom I have realized it sometimes mean being intentional about your scheduling or intentional about asking for help from those around you. Enjoy these photos and hopefully you will be inspired by them!

Time for myself has changed drastically since I became a mother. It looks like waking up early to read and pray before my littles wake up. It’s a homemade latte during afternoon quiet times. It’s sitting in the warm sun while the kids play in the back yard. It’s finding outlets for my creativity daily, whether that means baking, decorating, knitting, writing, singing, or photographing. It often doesn’t last more than ten minutes, but I have learned to grab those moments whenever I can - whenever I’m not neglecting the ones I love. It’s letting go of the things that really don’t matter and learning to be kind to myself.

Sabrina -I had to think for a minute before I figured out what time for myself looked like. Oh, there's my hair or even grocery shopping that I may do by myself, but its more of a necessity and not a "I'm going to do this FOR myself today". Nap times are spent catching up on cleaning, dishes, laundry or a shower...but this encourages me to do a little more for me, now that Arial is a getting older and can amuse herself for periods of time.
New mom to join this project Angela!! Welcome!

I started running again 2 1/2 months ago. I love it. I like to run in the mornings right after breakfast and even though Wilder is always present I still view this as "time for myself" because it is the time of the day I take care of myself physically and mentally.

Hey friends!! I wanted to share a shoot that I did last month! I am getting so excited to do more shooting as the weather gets warmer!! The trees will be blossoming soon so book your shoot!! This was Kendall's birthday present from James and even though they have 2 little boys they wanted pictures of just the two of them! We loved that idea! Family photos are great but getting photos of just you and your spouse make for the sweetest photos! Enjoy!!

On Saturday my brothers, Dad, and Darryl went on a quad trip so the girls decided to spend the day together. Unfortunately my sister-in-law Beth was sick so her and Charlie couldn't make it. We missed them but we still had such a great day crafting flower crowns, going for lunch, and drinking lattes while watching Annie. It was a great day! Can't wait to do something like this again!!
