Wilder is 2 months today!

I cannot believe he is 2 months today! What an amazing adventure it has been so far. I never knew the love one could have for their child. He brings us so much joy and I can't help but kiss his little lips and cheeks 1000 times a day!! We have had so many compliments on our sweet boys name (thank you!) and people wondering where we got it. Well there were a few factors that played into us naming him "Wilder" I thought I would share today on my blog to celebrate him being 2 months!

1. Around a year and half ago I started making a baby name list. I grew up watching Little house on the Prairie, and I loved Laura Ingalls and her married last name Wilder.

2. So when looking up the name Wilder we really loved the meaning which was wilderness (in the "Great Canadian Baby name" book).
We thought this suited us as we love going on outside adventures. I wouldn't say I'm an outdoorsy girl but we do love going camping, canoeing, going on walks, etc. There is nothing better than exploring and being in the fresh air!

3. Wilder is mainly known as a Surname. When looking up the meaning I found a motto that some Wilders in the 1700's used that read (after translation) "Let walls yield to valour". I love this. Let walls give way to great courage. I believe he, with God by his side, will find the courage he needs as he grows to face the "walls" in life that we all encounter.

4. When we were praying for a baby, I journaled a lot. I prayed, and wrote down my feelings, I wrote Wilder a letter saying he already had a place in my heart, writing became a way for me to already connect with my unborn, non-existent (at the time) baby. The journal also became a way for me to communicate my prayers, concerns, and dreams to God. On the journal's cover was a saying that I really loved. "Wild and Free".

My hope for Wilder is that he does grow up "wild and free". Wild in the best way possible, where he is the complete, crazy version of himself the way God created him. Where he dances and laughs at the top of his lungs and runs as fast as he can.  Free where he completely understands that freedom which was payed for by Christ. Free to love others and free to love himself. I guess I hope he is "Wild and Free" from the world. Not disobedient, but free spirited. This might not make sense to everyone…but it makes sense to Darryl and I and that is enough. Laugh and run sweet baby! We are so happy you have been with us for 2 months already you are the greatest gift we have ever received!

Here are some pictures of my baby. He is such a character already!

"Is this photo shoot almost over???"

He thought it was pretty hilarious when I wrapped his head in the blanket. GOODNESS I love him! :D
